"Maori women should be triply protected..."

New Zealand is about to be shamed by a high-profile international human rights group that says we are not doing enough to turn around our horrific record on domestic violence.

Contesse says Maori women should be triply protected by the Treaty of Waitangi, international codes for indigenous peoples' rights, and more generic international human rights conventions.

However: "Maori women are much more at risk of being assaulted or threatened by a partner... meaning, the NZ government is particularly failing Maori women in respect to domestic violence."

These overseas commentators frame matters in such a way that an uninformed reader would believe women are never more than victims of domestic violence. Yet our own eyes and ears would tell us that Maori women, in particular, can give as good as they get. They also indirectly contribute to the next generation's risk by abusing their own children. Let's be honest. I'm not going to trot out all the stats. Maori are disproportionately involved in family violence and changing that is as much about changing female attitudes as male.

Notwithstanding many, most I hope, Maori men and women are peaceable, patient, providers.

My not-so-popular opinion is that woman need to take a large part of the blame themselves.

If they would shun the company of violent, unstable, drug-addled vermin they would not be getting the bash nearly as often!

When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas...

Exactly Oswald. And I hesitate to say but if they did shun the vermin some of the vermin might change their ways even.

Well!

What do you expect when NZ FAMILY Law and Social Policy has been destroying the **Whole Natural Biological FAMILY** for generations.

NZ now has over 300,000 Children without one whole side of their FAMILY

Some say it’s over 400,000

Domestic violence

What about GOVT funded ABUSE?

We need to take Gender and race out of this debate and look deeply into the damage that NZ FAMILY Law and Social Policy is doing and has done for generations

The way ahead is to be found here

In many cases you have to blame the same Maori women who choose to attach themselves to drop-deads and losers.

These women have made the wrong choice in life and are paying for it.

The problem is not unique to Maori, though, but particularly acute among them.

It is easy to shun the company of these men if it has been your experience that this is possible. But if the only type of relationship you ever saw when you grew up is a violent one, how are you going to learn there are better things to be had?

Indeed, if one has lived such a flawed existence that they can truly not see there are alternatives- there cannot be much hope.
