Green/Maori Accord

Back in February I blogged the reasons why a Maori/Green Accord is a distinct possibility.

Today's Green conference has brought more talk about such a possibility.

The Greens and the Maori Party holding the balance of power after the next election would be a very dangerous situation for New Zealand to find itself in.

Of course, what do you expect when Greens & Maori gerrymandered NZ's electoral system for just this purpose? You think it was an accident that the MMP campaigners all turned out to be Labour, Green, & Maori?

Geographically proportional electorates, with additional members appointed to reflect NZ's economy. That's the kind of structure we need to take NZ into the 21st centuary. Not some holdover imposed in Germany in 1945 to prevent effective leadership!

As dangerous as having the venal Peters and minister of Foreign Affairs.

By the way, the Greens lost their compass sometime ago and are now political prostitutes for sale. Expect them to back Labour with the ETS.

But better than (you`d agree):
100% of Maori on the Maori roll
Roger Douglas in Cabinet
Winston Peters as a Minister of anything
A Labour majority Government
A National Majority government
A list MP as a PM - which would have happened had National won the last election
Helen Clark as Prime Minister

ANyay " the balance of power" may well be different after the election as compared to subsequent support for legislation, due to horse trading.

We`ll see.

No, much much worse than a National majority government, or a National/ACT government.

And who cares, frankly, whether the PM is a list or electorate MP?

The current PM was appointed by the unions. That she is nominally an electorate MP means absolutely nothing.
