Death penalty prevents homicides

I am not a proponent of the death penalty. But how often do we here opponents of it say, look at the United States, it hasn't worked there. This report claims there would be even more homicides without the death penalty.

It would have stopped Graham Burton from killing again, that is for sure.

And Rufus Marsh
And Dennis Luke

there is a least one other that immediately springs to mind but since he wasn't actually convicted the second time I wont mention his name

Yes but the report is about the death penalty acting as a deterrent - not the lives saved by keeping potential recidivists locked up.

Of course you are right Lindsay. I cannot believe that humans suddenly got more violent than they ever were before.

The certain knowledge that you would get hung if you murdered someone must have tempered the way people behaved.
