Maori To Make Treaty Claim For British Pensions

The leader of Northland's Matarahurahu hapu, David Rankin, has announced that he will be lodging claim with the Waitangi Tribunal for his people to be entitled to British pensions on reaching retirement age.

Mr. Rankin claims that Article Three of the Treaty, which guarantees Maori 'the same rights and privileges as British subjects', entitles the Matarahurahu people the right to this pension.

'I see this extending to other areas as well', says Mr. Rankin. We may expand the claim to include British passports, unemployment benefits, and other entitlements', he says.

The claim will be lodged at the end of October.

Excellent! Now that it has been clarified that being Maori is cultural rather than an issue of blood-line, I'll see if I can get a UK passport as well.

It's a natural progression of the lunacy that the grievance industry has been allowed to develop into.

Of course, the I wonder if the UK Crown will send NZ Maori a rates and tax bill - in arrears if required - also?

Poll tax, anyone? :)

Have also got it from the No Right Turn blog that if in 30 years time the Maori population thinks they didnt get a fair deal in todays settlement claims, they are entittled to make further claims.

Decolonisation it is now called.

I guess it will never end.

I had another thought... while the Kaumatua receive their British pensions, their children and grand children are probably going to be recruited into the armed forces and subsequently sent to Iraq and so on.

What makes people think that "rights and privelidges of a British citizen" only means they get money, but avoids the "rights and responsibilities" they have to the crown in return?

You have to wonder what brainiac actually came up with the idea to demand British pensions, and why they even think it will get them anywhere. *sigh* Don't they know that as soon as you get an overseas retirement income, it reduces your NZ one dollar for dollar?

Idiots.
